Running a business can be super challenging. Running a business when you still work your 9-5 can be even more challenging.
When I started my Pinterest business earlier this year, I would’ve never guessed all the events that would’ve occurred for me to really be able to have more time to work on my business. By that I mean that, when covid hit, we all got sent home to work from home for my full-time, which has been a HUGE relief.
I will never sit here and I say that I am not grateful to still be working in my full-time, because I am very grateful to be able to have it while I run my business as a Pinterest Coach. The only issue that comes with working pretty much two jobs, is how much time it can suck out of your day and the lines you have to draw.
Since I have been running my business and working full-time now at home for about 7 months now, I wanted to share a few tips on how I balance the both to get work done, efficiently and with a little less stress.
Planning Out The Day
I find it super helpful when I plan out my day for both to figure out what type of commitment to give to each. Obviously, my full-time comes first, but when it comes down to being a slower day I can really focus on my business too. I feel like with my full-time I have a ton of flexibility to do everything I need to do and have a few hours during the day to solely do business work.
Business work can look like being active on Instagram whether it’s short mini trainings, engaging with others or just showing up by reposting something or it can go from actually work like for me designing and scheduling pins for clients. No matter what you planned for that day, make sure to make it minimal so you don’t overdo it.
Okay, so I will admit. I am an early bird. I wake up at 6:45 am everyday to get my day started on the right foot. Mornings is where I flourish in creativity and productive. I also want to mention that I don’t work right away either. I have a specific morning routine that I love to focus on in order to have that time to really get me going. For some of you, afternoon or night time might be your way of doing things you love!
Batch Batch Batch
This is something I never thought to do much of. When someone told me to batch content, I only thought of batching about 1-2 weeks of content and that’s it. Well as time is of the essence, I have realized that focusing on a months worth of content is a lot better and keeps me at ease. By having a content plan, it can be helpful to you to stay on track too of what you are talking about so you don’t stray off topic too much.
The content I batch monthly is Pinterest, Instagram, Blog Posts and Emails! All that are very important to do so you don’t miss any opportunities.
